In my line of work, it’s not uncommon for me to be sent away to site for a few days. It’s normally fairly obscure places that are a little out of the way being as ‘site’ usually means oil refineries.
Not so long ago, I headed up to northern Scotland on a short trip to Peterhead. It was during the UK heatwave and I decided to head out for a walk around the town before I had dinner in my hotel.
I’m not entirely sure where I was but as I was walking along, a fluffy grey cat jumped out from behind a wall and came over to me. As I always do when I see a cat on the street, I bent down to fuss him and to my surprise he jumped up on my lap.
He was a very friendly chap and sat on my lap in the street for a good ten minutes letting me fuss him.
When he finally got down I stood up and started to walk away. At first I thought he was going to follow me, but he stopped at the other side of the house we were walking by and watched as I walked away. It was quite sad actually, but hopefully he has lots of friends that pass by to stroke him.
I’ll probably get sent up that way again at some point, so I’m sure I’ll meet him again.
