Hey folks, I’m sure you’ve all seen on social media that 27th October is Black Cat Day!
We’ve had two black cats in the family since I was born. Charlie, who still lives with my parents, and Sooty, who was around prior to my birth and died when I was seven.
Mum has been going through some of her old photo albums this past week and shes sent me some photos. A lot of them had Sooty in them, so I thought I’d share them with you.
This is my Mum and Dad with Sooty (in Dad’s hands) and Tiger Two, the kitten in my Mum’s hands. I don’t think I’ve ever seen any of these photos before. I never imagined T2 as a kitten, because she was always an adult cat when I knew her.
Here is Mum and Sooty at the house they lived in before I was born. Sooty is probably inspecting the flower beds to make sure there is plenty of space to poop in!
This one is my Dad and Sooty at the old house. I think Sooty was happy to climb this wall because the bricks were cemented together better than the ones in the earlier photo!
I recognise this street – so these photos must definitely be from the house before I was born. I used to walk down the street to go buy sweets from the shop, but didn’t know which house it was my parents live at. It’s hard to see but Sooty is there playing with Dad in the garden.
Oh hey, look there’s a baby! I wonder who that is! (Hint: it’s me!) Sooty was a lot bigger than me back at this time. I’m sure he was jealous of my bouncer too.
In case you were wondering, these photos aren’t in any order. This is Sooty and Tiger playing on the lounge carpet. Before my birth, again!
This is me (apparently surprised by the sticker which has been added to the photo) sat between Tiger Two and Sooty – he’s pretty hard to see but you can just about make out a black blob on the sofa beside me.
I’m not entirely sure where this photo was taken, but here’s Sooty watching over his little sister Tiger Two – look how small and fluffy T2 looks. She’s so tiny!
Last but certainly not least, here’s a bonus photo of tiny Tiger Two. Look how small she is beside those bowls. I know she’s not a black cat, but I associate her most with Sooty, so it feels like she fits here anyway.
Hope you’re having a great Black Cat Day. McLaren and Laser have been enjoying the sun we’ve had through the patio doors today. What have you been up to? Any Black Cats that you’re celebrating today?
