Well it’s been another crazy weekend over here and not least of all because I’ve been full of some kind of virus. It had me off work Friday afternoon and in bed most of the weekend, but luckily Doctor Mac has been at my bedside all weekend and now I’m ship shape and back to work.
While I was feeling sorry for myself, a certain handsome black gentleman was feeling much worse. Charlie boy has spent the weekend in the vet surgery. He’s had his neck shaved, his bloods taken and is thankfully now much better but Friday afternoon he was struggling to pee and bleeding.
Charlie is around 15 years old now and we were worried that he may had kidney stones or some kind of tumour, but the vets have checked him over and given him some meds and confirmed he just has a kidney infection. Infections like this are expected in older cats unfortunately, but I’m so glad he’s back home now and from videos my parents sent me he seems back to his old little self.
On Sunday our first foster baby arrived. Lulu is a 2 year old female. She been spayed but we believe she is not micro-chipped and will need all her vacs so she’s booked into the vets this coming weekend. She has come into the foster system as her owner is moving house and cannot take her with her.
She’s such a cute little thing, and seems friendly although she is very nervous about her change of circumstances. She did come out for a brief fuss when she first arrived but has since been hiding under the sofa bed. She nibbled some ‘Dreamies‘ overnight, but her main food has gone untouched, so I put some fresh in this morning and popped it under the sofa with her – hopefully she’ll eat that during the day.
McLaren and Laser seem mostly un-phased by the new arrival. They’re not happy that I go into the foster room and close the door on them, but they’ve been mostly carrying on as normal while I’m there and aside from a brief bout of clawing at the carpet by the door (McLaren!), they haven’t tried to get in.
Hopefully when I get home from work the carpet will still be intact, the door will still be shut, Lulu will have eaten and perhaps she will be brave enough to make another appearance.
